Three Blogs You Need To Read

Its been a while since I made a blog list, so perhaps I'm repeating myself, but I think some blogs are so outstanding that they could be shred more than once!

This time I'm focusing on the "art business" side of art and blogs with three that I think hit the nail on the head, content-wise.....

http://blog.lisacall.com/  there is so much I admire about how Lisa conducts her business and how upfront she is about the challenges that she meets-head on. I love how she shares her business planning and modeling, how she schedules her time and is sure to include the 'all important' personal time as well. I have heard amazing things about her workshops and hope that one day I can take one of them!

http://www.textileartist.org/ has it all together, they "aim to become the number one online resource and community for artists working with textile techniques as well as textile art enthusiasts. TextileArtist.org is a place to be inspired, learn from the best, promote your work and reach other creatively-minded people" (from their website) That sums it up pretty well and they do an amazing job of it......check them out!

http://www.artbizcoach.com/  Alyson Stanfield has written the most essential book for artists wanting to work in their studios instead of being in front of the computer (gulp). You really can't be without this book! Its called "I'd Rather Be In the Studio" and you can order it from her website. But Alyson's' blog is an essential read with varied, relevant content.

Plus, the fact that you're reading this blog makes me think you like it as well. Thank you for your support!

Another Three Blogs

Back again, with another three blogs that you'll find interesting! Colour, fabric, quilts, thread and more.....what could be better?

One of the most regular bloggers I've seen is Kay Koeper Sorensen,  a prolific dyer and quilter. She always has something of interest for the reader. I particularly like that she discusses her design challenges and there are lots of in-progress shots to pique our interest!

Embroidery, pattern, design, history.....its all here for you to discover, all that and so much more!

Leni Weiner is known to many quilters and her blog is a wonderful read, insightful and full of great thought! You'll want to spend lots of time there!

Three More Great Blogs

Well, I moved my computer into my quilting studio and this may or may not be a good thing. sometimes it gives me a 'come thither' look and I just have to break away and check my email for the 12th time. But sometimes I find some really great things and if I'd waited another 10 minutes they might have disappeared!
So in no particular order I discovered three blogs that I'm sure you'll want to check out!
http://www.gericondesigns.com/weblog/
Gerrie Congdon and I are Facebook friends and I find her posts to be light an fun, just a little peek into her life and how her day is going. You'll want to check her blog out and then see where else her links might lead you!
http://thetextileblog.blogspot.ca/
This blog has some amazing historical information on textiles, embroidery and more. Its a rich resource and I am going to be ordering some of the ebooks for download. They are a bargain, especially since shipping from Britian can be a bit pricey! Have a look and tell me what you think.

Terry Grant is another well known textile and quilt artist, currently living in Oregon. You've got to check out the pictures of her purpose built studio, its amazing and if I hadn't just done renovations of my own, I'd be borrowing some of ter ideas!

So thats it for another little while, I hope you ahve fun with these blogs, send me some links of others you've enjoyed......

Fun Comes in Threes - More Blogs to Visit

Heres a few more blogs that you might enjoy.

Many years ago I saw some work by Elizabeth Barton and immediately fell in love with her use of dimension, value and colour. At the time, Elizabeth's work was mostly architectural with houses, buildings and views of roof tops. Now Elizabeth is teaching online at www.quiltuniversity.com which is a wonderful opportunity for anyone to learn from a superb artist.

Jane is a mixed media and fibre artist how makes joyful and creative art. Check out how she has used an empty spot in her studio and organized it into a functioning corner!

Terri Stegmiller has a bright and cheerful blog with wonderfully inspiring pictures, I love how she created some great tote bags from her own dyed and stamped fabrics.
