A friend has given me a very inexpensive piece of Indian silk. In fact I wasn't even sure that it was silk, but a quick test with discharge paste showed me that the colour would come out. I painted some paste on in floral design and was pleasantly surprised that the teal colour discharged to a lovely turquoise colour. It think it will be made into some interesting scarves!

Screen printing
I've been screen printing on scarves and having a lot of fun with some silk "blanks" that I ordered from dharma Trading. I've also got a couple of crepe de chine blanks to try, I'm itching to get started....

New Bags!
I'm teaching a surface design class this fall entitled "Designer Fabrics" which will teach different dyeing, painting, stamping methods for small pieces of fabric. I needed a couple of samples to show how the fabrics could be used.
I love the bags, I think I'll have to use them for something!

Design Work
I am a student at Gail Harker's Creative Studies Center in Oak Harbor, WA. I travel there several times a year for an intensely creative immersion course. Right now I am in the middle of an Art and Design programme and last week we were creating and using stamped/printed images on paper.
I love being part of a group of serious artists from a variety of backgrounds, some photographers, paper artists and more, who are focussed on working to their best.
Here are some of the images that I made that will later become collage pieces and more. I'll post a few more pictures in the coming weeks as I work through more designs.

New Work
My friend, Amie lives in Saudi Arabia so we don't see each other much but keep in touch via email and pictures. She ordered some of my textile packs that I create with dyes fabrics, threads and beads and made this lovely piece with free motion thread work. I love the texture and shape!

Shattered Angles
I've been teaching a patchwork technique that I've entitled Shattered Angles. Its a variation of a "stack, slash, shuffle and sew" method that is a lot of fun and results in a stunning quilt!
Here, Margaret has finished her top and has called it "A Walk in the Forest". I love the illusion of the sunlight coming down through the trees.....
